В своето "Философско изследване на призхода на нашите идеи за възвишено и красиво" от 1757 г. Едмънд Бърк описва физичните и физиологични аспекти на естетическото въздействие и възприятие на "възвишено" и "красиво", поставяйки двете понятия в опозиция. В главата "За цвета", за да илюстрира "красивото" той дава пример с прозрачен съд, пълен с бистра цветна течност в пълен покой, през който преминава светлина, а за да бъде завършено усещането за "красиво" е добре стените на съда да са с плавни извивки, така че, преминавайки, светлината да разкрива постепенните промени в полутоновете на цвета. При възвишеното, напротив, течността не е бистра и спокойна, светлината не преминава плавно и не разкрива постепенни пpомени в цвета. Нещо като цветна супа на плосък екран? Или нещо повече - вряща супа, която сама е светлина. При всички случаи работата на Стела Василева по-скоро клони към "възвишеното"!
Леда Екимова
Стела Василева (1983) е родена в Ловеч. Завършва Стенопис в НХА. През 2010г. печели наградата за млад автор на конкурса за ново българско изкуство Gaudenz B. Ruff Award. Носител е и на наградата на МФ „Св.св. Кирил и Методий” за живопис, номинирана е и от други престижни конкурси. Има няколко самостоятелни изложби в галериите „Пистолет”, „Васка Емануилова” (СГХГ), 0 gms (ИСИ). Работите й са представяни на Vienna Art Fair, Raw Art Fair (Rotterdam), Прага и др. Участва в проекта на Държавния културен институт „Гранична ситуация: Рисунката в съвременното изкуство” (Индустриална, 2010 г.). Специализира във Виена в рамките на програмата на Kultur Kontakt.Живее и работи в София.

about the project:
"In his writing A Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful (1757) Edmund Burke describes the physical and physiological aspects of aesthetic influence and perception of sublime and beautiful setting the two concepts in opposition. In the chapter Of Colour, to exemplify the beautiful, he describes a transparent receptacle full of limpid coloured motionless liquid and light passing through it. In order for the sense of beautiful to be complete the sides of the receptacle should be smoothly curved so as the passing light could reveal the gradual changes in colour shades. On the contrary, to manifest the sublime the liquid isn’t clear and still. The light is not smoothly passing through and doesn’t uncover the gentle changes of colour. Something like a colourful soup on a flat screen? Or maybe more: a boiling soup of light. Nevertheless Stela Vasileva’s work leans towards the sublime! "
